Backstrap Weaving Doll
Description: Backstrap weaving is an ancient tradition of Guatemalan women that is still present in today´s modern culture. This decoration portrays a typical Mayan woman backstrap weaving. She is dressed in colorful traditional huipil, her head is covered by scarf and she has a necklace around her neck. With the loom strapped around her waist and the other end tied to a post, she is weaving a typical textile. The doll is situated on the wooden base with the basket next to her and a baby sleeping on the blanket in front of her. This doll will serve as a decoration as well as a teaching item.
